He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Ovard and Helen Ovard; his daughters, Lori Webster and Carolyn Ovard; his son-in-law Robert Barber; and his brother Richard Ovard.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Ruth Boyce; his children, Jennifer Barber (Robert), Douglas Ovard Jr. (Gina) and Ben Ovard (Francia); and his foster children, Laura Murphy and Ben Chung. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
