He was predeceased by: his parents, Morris Taylor and Beth Hobbs Taylor. He is survived by: his wife Dixie Reed; his son Ivan Tcherniaev (Carrie); his siblings, Gordon Taylor (Susan), Graig Taylor (Bonnie), Genan Anderson (Wayne), Grant Taylor (Nina) and Mary Gay Jones (Stan); his sons, Kevin Taylor (Nicole) and Kyle Taylor (Alena); and his grandchildren, Conner Taylor, Kate Tcherniaev, Anne Tcherniaev, Lilly Taylor, Beth Taylor, Max Taylor and Andrew Taylor.

His body succumbed to the challenges of Alzheimer's Disease, and he passed peacefully in his sleep.

“My thought and prayers are with you, Dixie, and family. With heavy hearts as the first cousin to pass thru the veil. Many happy memories, swimming in the old pool in Hyde Park, the VW bug with "der window flappers', the treehouse, and the pony cart. Being the second child in our family, I seemed to have a kinship with Gary because of the "science" talk about Aunt Beth on the importance of sibling placement. Enjoyed looking for him for his years in the Tab choir and the music in the home.”
