He was predeceased by: his parents, Marjorie Yeates and Reed Stender Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Sue Blomquist; his children, Mary Bevan (Spencer), Julie Webb (Scott), John Nelson (Kirsten) and Emily Holmstead (Eric); his grandchildren, Rose, James, Jack, Penny, Fern and Lars; and his siblings, Ron Nelson (Margaret), Deborah Nelson and Claudia Watson (Brent).
