He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Chapman Bird and Ada Margaret Potts Bird; his siblings, Betty Siciliano (Al), Gordon Bird (Marge) and Don Bird (Kaye); and his grandson Justen Hale.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ellis Bird; his sister Kathy Rawlins (Rick Woodburn); and his friend Steve Mitchell.
