He was predeceased by: his mother Ruth Edwards DeForest; his wife Joyce Ann DeForest; his father Franklin DeForest; his sister Julia DeForest; his parents-in-law, Marian "Grace" and Robert Benton Waters; his siblings-in-law, Neil Waters, Al Mossler and Carolyn Waters; his granddaughter Camille Anne Maughan; his son-in-law Nathan Miller; and his grandson-in-law Manuel Tallis.
He is survived by: his children, Debra Maughan (Brian), Robert DeForest (Bente), Richard DeForest (Shannon), DeAnn Nixon (John) and Jennifer Hatfield (Damon). He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM and from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A burial will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery (1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT 84092).
