He was predeceased by: his parents, Uno Hakala and Rose Hakala; his son Todd Hakala; and his siblings, Delores Ingles, Larry (Sonny), Ron and Marty Hakala.

He is survived by: his sister Dolores (Dee); his family, Todd, Alena (Lena) and Mark; his wife Pat (Pat); his children, Carrie Cole (Justin), Alena Meadows and Mark Hakala; his siblings, Gloria, Darlene and Don; and also Larry. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
