She was predeceased by: her parents, Ada Frances Long and Richard R. Schaar; her son David C. Payne (Louise); and her grandson Robert O. Barber. She is survived by: her husband Clare B. Winn; and her children, Steven R. Payne (Alba), Linda Payne McKenzie (John F. Haas), Janice Payne Barber (Steven) and Tyler L. Mitchell (Samantha). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
