He was predeceased by : his parents, Byron Luke and Colleen Henderson Orton; his sons, Kipp J Orton and Justin Byron Orton; and his grandson Tyrel Joseph Prior.

He is survived by : his spouse Janiel Johnson; his children, Richard Seth Orton (Linda), Jared Luke Orton (Rachelle), Kyla Prior (Joe), Audra Morley (Rich), Malea Simmons, Tyler Heber Orton (Tammy), Cody Grover Orton (Missi), Rikel Bundy (Heath), Byron Richard Orton (Lori), Alyse Hansen (David), Amber Penrod (Ryan), Korin Grange (Jonny), JaNae Reed (Zachary) and Delite Orton; his daughter-in-law Jocie Reel (Steve); and his siblings, Douglas Luke Orton (Debi), Irma Jean Blake (Dale), Joan Haderlie (Steve) and Colette Uptain (Tracy). He is also survived by 16 children, 13 in-law children, 98 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
