He is survived by: his wife Tracy O'Connor Mathiason; his siblings, Len Mathiason (Ann) and Cathy Mathiason; his siblings' children, Mindy Swiniarski and Chris Mathiason (Grace); his great-nieces, Hazel and Amelia Mathiason; his stepdaughters, Emily O'Connor and Bridget O'Connor; and his former wife Deborah Mathiason.
Memorial donations can be made in Walter's name to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
