He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard Mathiason and Helen Mathiason (Koseski); and his precious little angels, Elizabeth Mae, Howard and Helen Mathiason.

He is survived by : his wife Tracy O'Connor Mathiason; his siblings, Len Mathiason (Ann) and Cathy Mathiason; his niece Mindy Swiniarski; his nephew Chris Mathiason (Grace); his great-nieces, Hazel and Amelia Mathiason; his stepdaughters, Emily O'Connor and Bridget O'Connor; and his former life partner Deborah Mathiason.

Memorial donations can be made in Walter's name to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
