It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jocita Poowegup of Vernal, Utah, who passed away on May 16, 2025, at the age of 30, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her mother Anita Ann Honwynewa; her husband Tyson Antonio; her sister Patricia Ridley; her grandparents, Mary Ann Gardner and Ray John Honwynewa; her great-grandparents, Rozella Conetah and Fred Conetah; her uncles, Ray Jon, Fred Honwynewa, Jonas, Eli Poowegup, Brad and John Conetah; and her sister Madison Lang.
She is survived by: her father Richard Dean Poowegup, Jr.; her children, Tayla Antonio, Harmony Taveapont and Olijah Poowegup; her grandparents, Richard and Joline Poowegup; her great-grandparent Ina Jane Nephi; her siblings, Casper Poowegup, Knotasha Poowegup, Raenisa Ridley, Darcy Ridley and Austin Ridley; her aunts and uncles, Quanah Poowegup, Carlo Poowegup, Rosella Honwynewa, Reajeana Honwynewa, Wilfred, Byron, Douglas, Doyle, Francine, Pete and Amaryllis Conetah; and her great-aunts, Dellana Mart, Bettina Redfoot, Tissy Cuch and RoseAnne Myore. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A wake was held on Tuesday, May 20th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Home of Richard Poowegup (Little Chicago Rd D, Fort Duchesne, UT 84026). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Whiterocks Episcopal Church (N Whiterocks Hwy, Whiterocks, UT). A burial was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 at the Red Knoll Cemetery Red Knoll Cemetery.
