He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Chidester and Levina Hill Chidester; his wife Patricia Sue Williams Chidester; and his daughters, Valine Kay Chidester Kemple and Sherrie Ann Chidester Asay.

He is survived by: his children, Gordon Jay Chidester, Jr. of Magna and Jaylene Stewart (Richard); and his sister Charlotte Fleenor Fawcett (Brent). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
