With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Arlene M. Couch of Abingdon, Virginia, who passed away on May 19, 2025 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Martin and Tressie Smethers Martin; her daughter Tonya Couch; her niece Dawn Myers; and her pet Ace Boy.
She is survived by: her children, Teresa Smethers Atkins, Elizabeth "Nicki" Couch and J. R. Bumgardner; her grandchildren, Tori Chapman, Destiny Couch, Jazmin Couch, Shannon Gordon, Kali Scruggs, Kayne Scruggs, Decurtis Taylor, Jeweleena Taylor, Kendra Gibson and Jacob Atkins; her great grandchildren, Mia Blevins, Joshua Blevins and Mai'jour Smith; her siblings, Dennis Smethers and Debra Kriemes; and her nieces and nephews, Dennis Smethers, Brian Kriemes, Mindy Ulery and Samantha Smethers.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
