He was predeceased by: his wife Leona Elizabeth; his parents, Tom Holmes and Ethel Holmes; his siblings, Malcom, Ken, Lincoln, Marvin, John, Richard, Arlie, Dewey, Francis Mutter, Mary Perkins and Beulah; and his close friend Bobby Minton.
He is survived by: his son Preston Holmes (Ginger) of Damascus; his grandson Jacob Holmes (Hannah) of Bristol; his siblings, Kate Eastridge of Abingdon, VA, Geneva Henegar (Bob) of Glade Spring, VA, Jeanette DeShazo of Martinsville, VA and Henry of Greer, SC; and his close friends, Rev. Roger and Wanda Williams.
