He was predeceased by: his parents, Seymour Counts and Charlotte Herndon Counts. He is survived by: his daughters, Chynna Cantrell (Clay), Jorden Counts and Meghan Roark; his sister Kimberly Thompson; and his nephew Zak Baughman.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
