It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Evelyn Ruth Compton in Abingdon, Virginia, who passed away on July 5, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul James and Mary Louise Uplinger Cussins; her husband Charles Vincent Compton; her son Gary Lynn Compton; and her brothers, Robert "Bob" Cussins, Ronnie Cussins and Richard "Dick" Cussins.
She is survived by: her children, Pamela Mullins (Terry), Charles Eugene "Chuck" Compton (Margie), Dean Compton (Deborah), Barry Compton (Pam) and Rick Compton (Paula); her grandchildren, Melissa, Marsha, Heather, Houston, Rebekah, Jason, Loady, Amanda, Josh, Tara, Garon, Dana and Brianna; and her aunt Doris Gilbert. She is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren.
