With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Helen Proffitt in Abingdon, Virginia, born in Lebanon, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 11, 2024 at the age of 82. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harvey Barton and Helen Barton; her brothers, Dean and Darryl Barton; and her grandson Justin Johnston.
She is survived by: her husband Dr. Ron Proffitt; her children, Katrina Crise (Tom), Olivia Kestner (Wayne) and Chris Proffitt (Leeanne); her grandchildren, Tim Johnston (Krista), Andrew Johnston (Briana) and Halayna Bas; her great grandchild Hunter Johnston; and her sisters, Harvelene Boyd and Hester Britton (Jenny). She is also survived by several cousins, nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
