He was predeceased by: his parents, John William Bowers, Sr. and Georgia Pearl Bowers; and his siblings, Lee Bowers, Clarence "Paige" Bowers, Daisy Harley, William "Shine" Bowers, Pearl Harley, Nellie Anderson, Ethel Dickenson, Eva Moore, Katherine Ruth Strouth of Margaret, Nash, John "Tobe" Bowers and Ralph "Willie" Bowers.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Jane Bowers; his daughter Angela S. Hutton (Jim); his grandsons, Justin Hutton (Amanda) and Joshua Hutton; his sisters, Betty "Beck" Watson, Faye Lester, Ann Roark and Carolyn Tomlinson; his great grandchild Colton James Hutton; his stepgranddaughter Megan Hick (Christopher); and his close friends, Linda and Fred Sutherland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
