He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Smith and Sada Smith; and his siblings, John Smith, Bobby Joe Smith, Roy Smith and Jean Bowersox.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Dotson Smith; his children, Chad "Skull" Smith (Tammy Deel) and Cameron "C. J." Smith (Crystal); and his granddaughter Gracie Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
