She was predeceased by: her parents, Pauline Groseclose Atkins (Polly) and William Talmadge Atkins (Tam); and her siblings, Jeanne Atkins Brindle and William Talmadge Atkins, Jr. (Bill). She is survived by: her children, Melanie Phillips Smith (Doug Smith) of Chilhowie Virginia, Timothy Andrew Phillips (Joann Phillips) of Littleton, N. C., Stephen Mark Phillips (Mary Jo Stephenson) of Pittsboro, N. C. and Jonathan David Phillips (Lynn Roche Phillips) of New Bern, N. C.; her grandsons, Nathan Scott Phillips of Myrtle Beach, S. C., Marshall Claire Phillips of Kannapolis, NC, Owen Stephenson Phillips of Carrboro, NC, Damien Matthew Phillips of Lexington, KY and Henry Avery Smith; and her great grandchildren, Caroline Harper and Andrew Scott Phillips (Myrtle Beach).
