He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Henry and Beulah Marie Rasnake Sutherland; his former wife Connie Mahon Sutherland; and his brother Rick Sutherland. He is survived by: his wife Melissa Sutherland; his sons, Nathan Sutherland (Jackie Pruitt) of Abingdon and Cody Yates (Emily Carbary) of Bristol, Virginia; his grandson Everest Yates; his siblings, Lannis "Lanny" Sutherland (Kim) of Cleveland, Virginia, Barbara Sutherland of Asheville and Norma Sullivan (Ray) of Abingdon, Virginia; his sister-in-law Karen Sutherland of Honaker, Virginia; his nieces and nephews, Wendy Boothe, Sally Roark, Keaton Sullivan and Jaxon Sullivan; his uncle Ed; and his aunt Robin Rasnake.
