With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Sonia Christine McCracken of Abingdon, Virginia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Sonia left this world on May 1, 2026 at the age of 83, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her brothers, Bernard Woodward and Thomas Woodward; and her grandson Alexander Sneed. She is survived by: her sisters, Sylvia Slage and Zina Beth Crowe; her children, Rebecca McCracken Thacker Bristol (Daryll) and Gregory R. McCracken (Michelle); her grandchildren, Megan Myers (Michael) and Patrick R. M. McCracken; and her great grandchildren, Nicholas Sneed and Madelyn Myers. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Mountain View Cemetery (1019 Valley Dr, Bristol, VA 24201). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Hydrocephaly Foundation.
