He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph L. Abel, Jr. and Virginia Greer Abel; and his brother-in-law Phil Lucas. He is survived by: his wife Sue Ellen Hearl Abel; his sons, Justin Abel and Cameron Abel (Azen); his grandson Wade Abel; and his siblings, Jane Abel Lucas, Patricia Abel Keene (Glenn) and Kevin W. Abel (Jane). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
