It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Willie Mae Houser of Abingdon, Virginia, who passed away on March 10, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Willie Mae may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Willie Mae touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, David M. Powers and Adell Shortt Powers; her husband John Houser, Jr.; her son John Edward Houser; and her siblings, Billy Powers and Elizabeth Meredith.
She is survived by: her granddaughter Lauren Houser Smith (Chris); her great grandchild Miles Smith; and her siblings, Mack Powers, Margaret Houser and Violet Sue Baldwin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
