She is survived by: her friend Helen Goffigon; her children, Barbara West (John) of Exmore, VA, Johnny Sample (Willette) of Eastville, VA, Walt Sample (Susie) of Princess Anne, MD, George Sample (Annette) of Newport News, VA and Charles Sample (Veronica) of Painter, VA; her stepdaughter Gladys Stevenson (Richard) of Richmond Hill, NY; her daughter-in-law Ernestine Smith; and her sibling's children, Upshur Smith, Jr., Stephanie Landers and Tricia Smith. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, extended relatives, and friends.
