She was predeceased by: her parents, Luchian Pugh and Eva Mawyer Pugh; her husband James Carter Sr.; and her siblings, Marvin Pugh, Lucille Pugh, Merle Rae and Mary Jane Thompson.
She is survived by: her son James W. Carter Jr. (Jimmy); her daughter-in-law Diane McDaniel Carter; her granddaughter Rebecca Sue Carter Fitzgerald; her grandson-in-law Scott Fitzgerald; and her great grandchildren, Cooper Hayes and Brett Lee Fitzgerald.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Rodes United Methodist Church (286 Avon Rd, Afton, VA 22920).
