JoAnne Coakley Shirley Obituary

We are sad to announce that, on April 10, 2026, at the age of 79, JoAnne Coakley Shirley of Afton, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Warren Fairfax Coakley and Sherley Sweatt Coakley; her brother Daniel Coakley; her mother-in-law Thelma Shirley; and her brother-in-law Glenn Shirley.

She is survived by: her husband Brian Shirley; her children, Tanner Shirley (Angela) of High Ridge, Missouri, Meade Shirley of Lyndhurst, Virginia and Annie Morris (Eric) of Waynesboro, Virginia; her grandchildren, Zachariah, Elijah, Elianna, Anna Grace, Meleah, Samuel, Caleb, Isaac and Hope; and her sisters, Sharon Hicks (Preston) of Waynesboro and Carol Mills (Robert) of Chincoteague. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given in her honor to one of her favorite ministries.
