He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Matthew Merkel and Anita Sneed Merkel. He is survived by: his children, Marissa Leigh, Mya Noel, Aiden Michael and Evan Matthew; and his siblings, Joseph M. Merkel (Summer Morea) and Yvonne A. Merkel (Danny Black).
