Claiborne Robert Hicks Obituary
We are sad to announce that on May 28, 2025, at the age of 89, Claiborne Robert Hicks (Alexandria, Virginia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lila Ruth Keller and Claiborne Robert Hicks Sr.; and his grandmother Mary Anna Hicks. He is survived by: his grandfather Luther Coy Hicks; his wife Frances (Vaughan); his daughters, Jeanne Wolak, Christy Hicks and Melissa Willen (Bob); and his grandchildren, Ethan, Owen Wolak, Amanda, Alex and Sam Willen. He is also survived by three daughters, proud grandfather.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home & Crematory (1500 W Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22302).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aerospace Engineering Class of '58 Scholarship Fund at Virginia Tech, with a note "in memory of Claiborne R. Hicks, Jr." Clay was a member of this exceptional engineering class, whose members became pioneers of the U.S. space program.
