He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy Armistead; and his parents, John Armistead Sr. and Alice Armistead. He is survived by: his daughter Leslie Oberhuber (Nick) of Summit; his grandchildren, Eva and Vaughn; his stepchildren, Jennifer Gritter (Todd), Patrick Allen (Amy) and Chris Allen (Misty); his grandchildren, Aryn Gilmore (Jordan), Alyson Beal (Matt), Faith Fralick (Josh) and Tristan Allen; and his sister Mary Alice Hudgins (C. W.) of Mathews, Virginia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Virginia Hills Baptist Church (6507 Telegraph Rd, Alexandria, VA 22310).
