He was predeceased by : his parents, Samuel E Butler Senior and Kathleen Beeton Butler; and his siblings, Douglas Butler and Karen Butler Saito (Glenda Henson Butler). He is survived by : his children, Norman Butler (Jolie Elizabeth Anna) and Jolie Butler Mayo; his son-in-law Francis Lee Mayo III (Frank); his granddaughter Amanda Kay Mayo; his grandson-in-law Nick Saalwaechter of Cleveland; his granddaughter Annaliese Louise Mayo of Statesboro, Georgia.; and his wife Glenda Louise Hanson.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
