He is survived by: his parents, Jesse Lee Puryear and Diane Snyder Puryear of Gladys; his wife Amanda Cundiff Puryear; his daughters, Kaycie J. Puryear of Altavista and Kaylee J. Puryear of Altavista; his brother Shawn D. Puryear of Berryville; his sibling's children, Cameron Puryear, Christian Puryear, Austin Kegley, Kylie Kegley and Ally Kegley; his parents-in-law, Mike and Rhonda Cundiff of Altavista; and his sister-in-law Kelsie Kegley (Jacob) of Roanoke.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Colbert-Moran Funeral Home (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the New Prospect Baptist Church (509 Prospect Rd, Hurt, VA 24563).

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
