She was predeceased by: her parents, Green Berger and Virginia Leftwich Berger; her husband Douglas Smith, Sr.; her children, Keith Smith, Douglas Smith, Jr., Terry Holland, Gayle Smith and Cherie Bonds; her grandson Brandon Bonds; and her siblings, June Merritt, Doretha Berger, Edward Berger, James Berger, Roy Berger, Michael Berger and Willie Berger.
She is survived by: her children, Brenda Sheffield (Mark) of Altavista, Linda Slade (Earl McIvor) of Lynchburg, Bonnie Robinson (Jackie Robinson, Sr.) of Lynch Station, Virginia, Denese Smith of Lynch Station, Virginia, Hollie Smith of Lynch Station, Virginia, Elwood Smith (Brandy) of Hurt and Allyn Smith (Amber) of Lockport; her sisters, Kather Leen Moon (Billy Jo) of Lynch Station, Betty Goard of Altavista and Mary Frances Tyson of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; her uncle Bogie Stone, Jr.; and her aunt Helen Scott of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Friday, May 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Miller Funeral Home Chapel (668 Zion Rd, Gretna, VA 24557). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, May 17th 2025 at the Mt. Airy United Methodist Church Cemetery (4525 Mt Airy Rd, Lynch Station, VA 24571).
