George will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honor George by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though George is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. George’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was predeceased by: his wife Vera Peters; his daughter Karen Peters Hart; and his great grandchild Lucille Hansen. He is survived by: his children, Debbie Read (Brian), Ginger Hahn (Rob), David Ray Peters (Cheryl) and Ricky Peters (Carolyn). He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren as well as one great-great-grand child.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bethel Baptist Church (1880 N Amherst Hwy, Amherst, VA 24521). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at the Briarwood Memorial Garden (1823 S Amherst Hwy, Amherst, VA 24521).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pisgah Scripture Printing Ministry for Bibles all over the world, including areas where scriptures have never before been published or available.
