He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Thompson and Lena Mae Croson Thompson; his significant other Jeannette Elizabeth McGee Thompson; his son Jerry Thompson; his grandchildren, Angela Marie Cole and Christopher Lee Thompson; and his siblings, Helen Cordle, Roy Thompson (Sonny), Marie Tyler and Katherine Spalding.
He is survived by: his children, Diana Atkins of Winchester, Raymond Thompson of Fairfax and Deborah Gray of Charlottesville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
