He is survived by: his son William Lester of Dryfork, VA; his siblings, Darrell Hicks (Anna) of Lincolnton, NC, John Hicks (Amanda) of Coats, NC and Brenda Johnson (Victor) of Georgetown, SC; and his former wife Ilene Lester. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
