He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Lee MacEwen and Agnes MacEwen. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen MacEwen; his children, Leonora MacEwen (Thibaut), Sophia Paul (Andrew) and Maurice MacEwen (Kelsey); and his grandchildren, Mason, Raylyn, Liam, Madison, Camille and Drew.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church (5121 Woodland Way, Annandale, VA 22003). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Fairfax Memorial Park (4401 Burke Station Rd, Fairfax, VA 22032).
An accomplished scientist and scholar, his distinguished career included work at the Pentagon and contributions to the James Webb Space Telescope.
