He was predeceased by: his parents, Roland Baxter Parris, Sr. and Alva Teague Parris; his brother Donald T. Parris; his nephews, Jeff Parris and Steve Parris; his brother Ben; and his sister-in-law Alice Nelson.
He is survived by: his wife Louise Nelson Parris; his children, Mary P. Goin (Gary) of Appomattox, R. Baxter Parris, III (Debbie) of Appomattox, Donald N. Parris (Kathy) of Appomattox and Susan P. Prillaman (Mike) of Forest; his grandchildren, Sarah Beth G. Waddell (Nick), Kimberly G. Elliott (Will), Donna P. John (Phil), Kathlyn P. Wade (Seth), Seth G. Parris, Ashleigh E. Parris, Roland B. Parris, IV (Elizabeth), Savannah P. Webber (Samuel), Heather P. Loftis (David Ray) and J. Bennett Prillaman; his great grandchildren, Caleb, Lorelei, Everly, Cora Wade, Easton, Taylor, Lelia John, Kayden, Kruz, Kali Alzugaray and Frances Waddell; his brothers-in-law, John M. Nelson (Carolyn), Robert S. Nelson and Thomas L. Nelson; and his nieces, Pamela Goldrick, Sherry Watts (Jeff) and Nancy Quisenberry. He is also survived by son nieces and nephews.
