It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Luther Clayton McMillian of Ararat, Virginia, who passed away on July 19, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Cassell McMillian and Laura Elizabeth Dawson McMillian; his former wife Evelyn Fannon McMillian; his great grandchild Jasper Owen Hicks; and his siblings, Eulala Dawson, Estelle McMillian, Mabel Utt, Dwight McMillian, Clinton Sealel McMillian, Earl Eden McMillian and Glenn McMillian.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Guynn McMillian; his daughter Arlene; his son-in-law Frankie Vernon; his sons, Terry (Robin McMillian), Travis (Megan Bowman) and Jody (Melinda Bowman); his grandchildren, Hannah Ardner, Rebakah (Bradley Hicks), Abigail (Neil Tickle), Alexander McMillian, Gregory McMillian, Nathaniel McMillian, Logan Brown, Laurel Bowman, Lola Bowman, Liza Bowman, Walker Bowman, Reid (Amanda Vernon), Garrett (Rachel Vernon) and Jessica (Tyler Pennington); and his siblings, Opal McMillian Thomas and Ross McMillian. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church (97 Oak Grove Trail, Cana, VA 24317).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 97 Oak Grove Trail, Cana, VA 24317.
