He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph R. Sr. McKenzie and Laura Pearl Sanders McKenzie; his daughter Ellen McKenzie (Bobby); and his siblings, Joseph R. McKenzie Jr., James A. "Sonny" McKenzie, John E. "Eddie" McKenzie, Mary Alice McKenzie Sullivan, Joseph H. "Herb" Rowe, Ronald Wayne McKenzie and David William McKenzie.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Madeline Preston McKenzie of Oak Grove, VA.; his sister Gene Cox of Greenbelt, MD.; his children, Douglas McKenzie (Glory) of Harpers Ferry, VA. and Diana Blair (Tom) of Haynesville, VA.; and his grandchildren, Rosanna Vicente (Carlos), Jeffery McKenzie, Candice Hooks (Alex), Stephen McKenzie (Caitlin), Matthew McKenzie (Danielle), Amber Yerby (Michael), Thomas Blair, Matthew Blair and Steven Blair (Brittany).
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Oak Grove Baptist Church (8096 Leedstown Rd, Colonial Beach, VA 22443). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at the Historyland Memorial Park (11227 James Madison Pkwy, King George, VA 22485).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church and/or the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
