He is survived by: his wife Patricia Smoot Gleason; his children, Charles (Carrie), John, James, Kathryn, Laura, Paul Douglas II (Chip) and Kristina (Jon Bondanella); his grandchildren, Thorsen, Landen, Lakoda, Ryan, Joshua, Tyler, Jordan, Andrew Hurst (Drew), Timothy Hurst (Cheyenne), Joseph Hurst (Taylor), Kaitlin (Presley Spicer), Brendan (Anna), Preston, Grace Bondanella and Nicole Bondanella; and his great grandchild Brooklyn Hurst.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Murphy Funeral Home (1102 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
