He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward and Margaret Flaherty; and his siblings, Edward, Margaret Taliaferro, Catherine Folliard, Lillian Hassan and Ruth Bush.

He is survived by : his wife Mary (Shimchock); and his sons, Robert (Debra), Ronald (Terrie) and Paul (Laura). He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
