He was predeceased by: his wife Jean Clark Frere; his parents, John Edward Frere and Mary Phyllis Frere; and his siblings, John, William, Phillip, Richard, Robert, James, Marie Martin and Marian Frere.
He is survived by: his children, Anne Baum (Martin), Francis B. Frere, Jr., Patrick Frere (Gina Stump) and Jennifer Larson (Patrick); his grandsons, Alexander (Rachel), Nicholas, William and Andrew Baum; his children, Andrew, Erin, Joshua Frere, Thomas Frere (Jessica), Samuel Frere (Samantha), Meghan Kasik (Olivia), Mary Frere, Emma Larson, Sarah Lund (Harrison) and William Larson; his great grandchildren, Katherine, James, Andrew and Eleanor Frere; and his brother Edward M. Frere. He is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 9:30 AM. A Mass was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Ann's Catholic Church (105 S Snead St, Ashland, VA 23005). A burial was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Holy Ghost Church Catholic Cemetery.
