We announce the death of George Larkin Wood (Ashland, Virginia), who passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 91. George will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. George will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew George will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. George’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his wife Fanny Field Wood; his parents, Bessie Wood and William Bryan Wood; and his siblings, Mary Mosby Brett and Larry Lee Wood.
He is survived by: his daughter Darlene Wood Hall (Randy); and his granddaughters, Christina Owens, Brittany Hall Brookes (Roger) and Sarah Hall Thorne (Cody). He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren, along with extended family members and friends.
