He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Dalton and Edith Bell Roark Dalton; and his siblings, Betty Jean Bull, Harold Cecil Dalton and James "Ray" Dalton.

He is survived by: his wife Alice Dalton; his son Russell David Dalton (Angela); his sisters, Ruth Gaye Dalton Kiley of Danville and Bobbie Leah Dalton of Axton, Virginia; his grandchildren, Savannah Lynn Sparks (Tyler), Holland Brooke Dalton and Denver Russell Dalton; and his great grandchildren, Bowen Ryder Sparks and Selah Grace Sparks.
