He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Jasper Swinney and Carrie "Mommom" Payne Swinney; and his siblings, Helen Akers, Bonnie Sawyers, James Swinney, Charles Swinney, Glen Swinney, Rev. Samuel Swinney and Noah "Cricket" Swinney.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Sue Swinney; his sons, Thomas Stephen Swinney (Brandy) and Joseph Marshall Swinney; his sister Maxine Mays (Steve); and his grandchildren, John Luke "Bubba" and Willow. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wright Funeral Service - Martinsville Chapel (1425 Greensboro Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112). A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Fair Haven Memorial Park (18960 A L Philpott Hwy, Spencer, VA 24165).
