She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph Edward Compton, Sr.; her son Joseph "Joey" Edward Compton, Jr.; and her siblings, Anna Virginia Whitehead, Orena Barker, Kathleen Barker Kennette, Alice Virginia Hudson, Mattie Barker Moore, Oscar Boyd Barker, Grover William Barker, Harry Lee Barker, Robert Lee Barker and Leslie James Barker.
She is survived by: her children, Brenda Compton Escherich (Chris) and Curtis Wayne Barker; and her grandchildren, Herman J. Thornhill, Jr., Destiny Michelle Keith, Curtis Wayne Barker, Jr., David Barker, Amie Barker and Amanda Barker. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home (109 Broad St, Martinsville, VA 24112). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 10:00 AM and from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:10 PM at the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home & Burial Park (103 Clearview Dr, Martinsville, VA 24112).
