He was predeceased by : his parents, Moses Skipwith and Rachel Nelson Skipwith; his wife Elanita Brounson Hilliard Skipwith; his stepdaughter Patricia Harris; and his siblings, Edna Townes, Clarence, William, Graham and Jerry Skipwith.

He is survived by : his sons, James B. Skipwith of Hampton, VA, Steven Skipwith of Chase City, VA and Gerald Skipwith (Joyce) of Clarksville, VA; his stepdaughters, Darlene Hilliard, Odene Smith of Clarksville, VA and Madeline Spencer of Henderson, NC; his grandson James Hilliard (Simone) of Baskerville, VA; and his sisters, Alice Revis (Jeffress) and Mozelle Royster (Pete) of Finchley, VA. He is also survived by other loving relatives and caring friends.
