He was predeceased by : his parents, David F. Smith and Betty Smith; and his sister Karen Smith. He is survived by : his wife Loretta Collins Smith; his children, Trent Cole (Crystal) of Green Bay, Jacob Smith of South Hill, Larissa of South Hill, Kailey of Baskerville and Sara Smith of Baskerville; his siblings, Yvonne Cline (Mike) of Chesterfield, Zandra Clary (Skeeter) of South Hill, Mark Smith (Dolores) of Chase City and Scott Smith (Hope) of Chase City; and his grandchildren, Bentley, Evelyn, Addyson, Valerie and Adeline. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 28th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home (1504 N Mecklenburg Ave, South Hill, VA 23970). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
