She was predeceased by : her parents, Homer Martin and Ethelene Martin; her husband Kermit Rakes (Edsel Simms); her siblings, Thomas Martin (Virginia) and Christine Hager (Bill); and her brother-in-law Lee Gilbert.

She is survived by : her sister Ernestine Gilbert; and her nieces and nephews, Gwen Bower (Mark), Cathy Stanton (Mike), Greg Gilbert (Gloria) and Stan Martin (Christy).
