It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ray Marshall Chaney of Bassett, Virginia, who passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Ray Marshall Chaney to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Marshall Jefferson Chaney and Dorothy Clark Chaney; and his son-in-law G. W. Gammons. He is survived by : his wife Janie McBride Chaney; his children, Tony Ray Chaney (Sheila), Shannon Renea Gammons and Melinda Rayshell Rollins (James); his grandchildren, Bailey (Nick), Hunter, Hannah (Matthew), Matthew and Melody; his great grandchildren, Adley, Jackson Marshall and Anakin; his siblings, Alfred Chaney, Lonnis Chaney, Rebecca Chaney Mabe (Doyle) and Lois Chaney Triplett (Bobby); and his pet Lyla. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bassett Funeral Service (3665 Fairystone Park Hwy, Bassett, VA 24055). A graveside service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Ross Harbour United Methodist Church Cemetery.
